Texas in 6 Days: Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Houston and Big Bend

6 DAYS 6 places by WaTrips

Dallas's Dealey Plaza, Austin's State Capitol, the Alamo and San Antonio's River Walk, Space Center Houston and Big Bend National Park.

Texas is big in every way. Start in Dallas at Dealey Plaza, where President Kennedy was shot, then Austin, the live music capital, with its State Capitol. See the Alamo and stroll San Antonio's River Walk, then visit Space Center Houston, home of Mission Control. End with two days in remote Big Bend National Park, where the Rio Grande cuts through desert canyons. Spring and autumn are best.

Big Bend National Park in West Texas covers a vast area of desert, mountains and canyons along the Rio Grande. Santa Elena Canyon has sheer walls rising 450 metres above the river. The Chisos Mountains offer hiking, and the park has some of the darkest night skies in the country.
