Ajanta and Ellora in 3 Days: Caves, Daulatabad and Bibi Ka Maqbara

3 DAYS 5 places by WaTrips

Bibi Ka Maqbara and Daulatabad Fort, Ellora's Kailasa temple and Grishneshwar, then the painted caves of Ajanta.

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) is the base for two of India's greatest monuments. Day one sees the city's Bibi Ka Maqbara and the hill fortress of Daulatabad, with its dark tunnels and moats. Day two is Ellora, where Buddhist, Hindu and Jain caves sit side by side and the Kailasa temple was carved down from a single rock; Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga is next door. Day three is Ajanta, with its painted Buddhist caves in a horseshoe gorge. Both are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Ellora is closed on Tuesdays and Ajanta on Mondays; July to March is best.
