3 DAYS 5 places by WaTrips

Deekshabhoomi and Ramtek, Gandhi's Sevagram Ashram, a tiger safari in Tadoba, and the Markanda temples.

Vidarbha in the east of Maharashtra is quiet country with one big draw: Tadoba. Day one is Nagpur's Deekshabhoomi stupa, where Ambedkar embraced Buddhism, and the hill temples of Ramtek. Day two stops at Gandhi's Sevagram Ashram in Wardha before an afternoon safari in Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve, one of the best places in India to see tigers; book well ahead. Day three visits the carved Markanda temples on the Wainganga. October to June is the safari season; the core zone closes in the monsoon.
