Pahari Mandir, Tagore Hill, the Rock Garden and the Jagannath temple, then Hundru, Jonha and Dassam falls, and Patratu Valley.

Ranchi sits on a green plateau ringed by waterfalls. Day one stays in town: Pahari Mandir on its hill, Tagore Hill, the Rock Garden and the Jagannath temple. Day two is the waterfall circuit: Hundru, Jonha and Dassam falls. Day three drives the winding road through Patratu Valley to its lake. The falls are at their fullest from July to October; take care on wet rocks.

Pahari Mandir Ranchi

Pahari Mandir is a Shiva temple on Ranchi Hill, about 650 metres above sea level, reached by a climb of more than four hundred steps. The hill is also remembered for freedom fighters executed here under British rule, and the national flag is hoisted at the temple on Independence Day and Republic Day. The summit gives a full view of Ranchi.

Tagore Hill

Tagore Hill, on the northern edge of Ranchi, is named after Jyotirindranath Tagore, elder brother of Rabindranath, who settled here in 1908 and built a house and a pavilion on the summit. The climb of about two hundred steps leads to the pavilion, a favourite spot for sunrise and sunset views. A Ramakrishna Mission ashram lies at the foot.
