Augrabies Falls: The Orange River's Great Gorge

2 DAYS 1 place by WaTrips

Augrabies Falls and its granite gorge on the Orange River.

In the dry Northern Cape, the Orange River plunges into a deep granite gorge at Augrabies Falls, called 'the place of great noise' by the Khoi people. Walk the boardwalks to the viewpoints, hike the trails for klipspringers and dassies, and watch the sunset over the desert. The falls are biggest after summer rains (February to April).

Seasons from 20 years of NASA POWER climate data.
