Leave the bare steppe behind and suddenly you are in deep pine forest, the air cool and resin-scented, with a still pond reflecting the trees.
The park
Yozgat Pine Grove National Park, Yozgat Çamlığı Millî Parkı, was established on 5 February 1958 as Türkiye's first national park. It is a forest island on hills in the wide steppe, covering 264 ha at an average 1,360 m. The pines here are a kind otherwise found only high in the Caucasus Mountains; the trees, between 350 and 500 years old, are protected, and some carry tags with their age.
