Colourful kites fill the sky over the water as kitesurfers ride the afternoon wind. Along the shore, Burj Al Arab stands against the sunset.
The beach
Kite Beach in Umm Suqeim is a long public beach, 2.4 km of sand, named after the kitesurfers who ride its steady afternoon winds. It has a dedicated kitesurfing area and a clear view of Burj Al Arab along the shore.
Things to do
The beach has a running track, a boardwalk, volleyball courts, a skate park, food trucks and cafes, as well as showers and changing areas. Jet-skiing and banana boat rides run in safe zones kept apart from the swimming areas, and there are playgrounds for children.
Getting there
Drive along Jumeirah Beach Road (D94); heading from Dubai towards Abu Dhabi, turn right onto 11A Street and follow the community roads to the beach. Access corridors make it easier for People of Determination and older visitors to reach the sand.
